Illinois Central "Main Line of Mid-America" 50' Brown Boxcar Decal Sets:

ICG-88 : $10.00 Illinois Central 50' Single Door Boxcars 1957+
ICG-89 : $10.00 Illinois Central 50' Single Door Cushioned Boxcars 1963+
ICG-90 : $10.00
Illinois Central 50' Double Door Boxcars 1961+

These three decal sets are aimed at filling a critical need in the HO Decal World: Accurate lettering for IC Borwn 50' Boxcars in the Main Line of Mid-America Script lettering scheme. Time to dig out all of those Branchline (and others) 50' boxcar kits!

Oh my, so much decal goodness in these sets.. how do you know which ones you need? Just read below -- details for each of the three sets can be found in the following photos and info:

ICG-88 : Illinois Central 50' Single Door Boxcars 1957+

This set will letter 2 different cars, and covers example cars in the IC 24000-24499 (IC Centralia 1959) and IC 25000-25899 (IC Centralia 1957) series. Of course, the lettering is applicable to other IC brown cars as well... I threw in some IC era 1960s/70s reweigh in there to make things interesting.

Yes, the above photo is one complete set of ICG-88 !

ICG-89 : Illinois Central 50' Single Door Cushioned Boxcars 1963+

This set is aimed at 50' Single Door Cushioned cars, and covers at least six IC series:
IC 10000-10199 (IC Centralia 1964)
IC 10200-10499 (IC Centralia 1965-66)
IC 10800-10899 (IC Centralia 1966)
IC 10900-10975 (IC Centralia 1966)
IC 24500-24699 (IC Centralia 1963)
IC 24700-24899 (IC Centralia 1963)

Enough lettering is included for two cars, and includes a few 70s/80s reweighs.

The above photo shows everything included in one set of ICG-89 !

ICG-90 : Illinois Central 50' Double Door Cushioned Boxcars 1961+

This set will letter two 50' Double Door cars, and covers at least six IC series:
IC 39600-39899 (IC Centralia 1966)
IC 41800-42549 (IC Centralia 1961)
IC 42550-42999 (IC Centralia 1962)
IC 43000-43049 (IC Centralia 1962)
IC 43050-43349 (IC Centralia 1962, Cushioned)
IC 43350-43699 (IC Centralia 1963)

This is a critical set for those of us in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Just the above Double Door series total 2250 cars, and were seen very far away from IC rails, for example, hauling lumber from the West.

The above photo is everything included in one set of ICG-90 !

The lettering in these sets is extensive, and includes as much accurate data as I could squeeze in based on actual photos. The lettering in the ICG-88/89/90 sets is fully cross-compatible, so you can use reporting marks in one and data/return routes in another to model other cars/series not included above.

What is a good mix for IC Brown? Try:
75% Scalecoat Boxcar Red #2
25% Scalecoat Roof Brown
painted over a light gray primer. (Yes, the primer is important)
